The Costa Blanca – A Idyllic Spot for a Home from Home

My family recently bought a fabulous property in Javea from the agency Valuvillas which has been established many years as a second home. It’s great for family gatherings and having fun during the holidays. But sometimes it is good to get away from home and see new places, traveling to an exotic country can be an exciting experience, but even better is being able to go to that new place and still have the comforts of your own home.

Covering the province of Alicante and extending down the east coast of Spain, the Costa Blanca has the literal English meaning of ‘White Coast’ and has a lot to offer everyone with several buying a holiday home or retiring to the area. With property prices dropping throughout Spain, the place in the sun dream of owning Costa Blanca property has become more of a realistic expectation, but what are the attractions that continue to make the area so popular?

For starters the Costa Blanca is a beach lover’s dream and provides the choice of over one hundred beaches at the blue flag standard. Les Rotes is comprised of five bays and is located just south of Denia with its main sandy Marineta Cassiana beach a firm family favourite. Other popular beaches include El Carabassi and La Granadell. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy discovering the wide array of fish and plant life at the Montgo Nature Reserve at Les Rotes while El Carabassi is a bird spotter’s paradise.

It is worth pointing out that many beaches have made a concerting effort to be disabled access friendly while the Costa Blanca area offers some great sporting opportunities – examples include many water-sports available at Playa La Caleta and a great golf course near the beach at San Juan de Alicante. Of course there are also attractions away from the beaches – the coastal town of Villajoyosa’s English translation of Joyful Village is bound to have something to do with the chocolate being made there.

The World Health Organisation has described the Costa Blanca as having one of the world’s best climates – cooling breezes help make their summers not too hot and neither are the winters cold and wet. The area is even renowned for helping people suffering with arthritis feel much better within days of visiting so it is no wonder than it remains the popular choice!
